80 of our staff will take on the Bupa Great Manchester Run this Sunday

80 dedicated staff members will take on the Bupa Great Manchester Run this Sunday 20 May – promoting the beneficial links between exercise and mental well-being.

Staff from across our Trust, which serves a local population of one million people, will be pounding Manchester City Centre’s streets after months of training.

“In the run up to the London 2012 Olympics we’ve been supporting our people to get actively engaged in sport or involved in physical activity to help them enjoy all the positive mental well-being benefits that come with being healthy,” says the Trust’s Chief Executive Simon Barber.

“The Great Manchester Run is yet another high profile event that our staff are approaching with the kind of dedication, enthusiasm and commitment that won us an NHS 2012 Challenge Gold Award.

‘I want to thank Vanessa Trimble, our Assistant Director of Organisational Well-being and Development, for championing the Trust’s involvement in the run. I wish her and her colleagues all the best for what is sure to be a fun event that they can feel proud to have taken part in.”

In a light-hearted spirit of competition, the Trust is entering two teams – ‘Team Trimble’, headed up by Vanessa, and ‘Team Roscoe, led by Mike Roscoe, Deputy Business Manager. Each team will calculate their overall finishing time to determine the winning team.

“We’ve recently enhanced the grounds at Hollins Park with the addition of a new mile-long pathway to encourage all our staff and service users to take regular gentle exercise,” says Vanessa. “Mike has been a noticeable absentee from some of our weekly practice runs on-site so I can only wish him all the best on Sunday!”
