Congratulations to Team 5BP on climbing to the summit of Snowdon on Saturday

Congratulations to Team 5BP on climbing to the summit of Snowdon on a gloriously sunny day on Saturday 22 September! A team of 32, Trust employees and their friends and family, scaled Wales highest peak in aid of local charities.

Starting at 9am at the Pen Y Pass, they took the picturesque Miner’s track past two stunning lakes and then the Pyg Track, which was rugged, very steep and quite challenging. But with several stops and encouragement from all, they made it to top just in time for lunch. At the summit they were rewarded with magnificent clear panoramic views of Wales. It was spectacular.

They’d picked a popular day to climb Snowdon with the summit more like Piccadilly circus than a mountain top! It was buzzing with walkers, families and their dogs and even some super fit runners in a race who’d run up the mountain, only to immediately run down it again! After a rest at the cafe for some lunch, it was time to start the descent via the Llanberis path. Some found it easy going and sailed down, or in Vanessa’s case, ran in a crisscross fashion down the mountain! (A clever ruse to reduce pressure on her toes!) Others found that their legs and knees had seized up and took a little longer to get down! But what a sense of achievement when they did make eventually make it down – fantastic!

The walk took about six hours (not including the break at the top!) some taking a bit less, some a little bit more. The group walked just under 9 miles in total.

Well done Team 5BP!

Many thanks to organisers Cathy Baldwin, Sue Cronin and walk leader Chris Maj.

Same time next year? Absolutely!
