Olympic torchbearer and Trust service user Aiden Walker led a sponsored 1km

Olympic torchbearer and Trust service user Aiden Walker led a sponsored 1km well-being walk/‘push’ round Hollins Park Hospital yesterday during our inaugural ‘Park Art’ event.

More than £150 in sponsorship was raised for Reflections – a national charity celebrating the artistic talents for people with experience of mental ill-health - along with money from the sale of artworks, prayers and poetry.

“It was a privilege to welcome Reflections co-founders Angie and Tony Russell to Hollins Park for this fantastic celebration of arts in mental health” says Simon Barber, Chief Executive of 5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Reflections patron.

“It was a pleasure to see the general public mingling with service users, carers, staff and volunteers – enjoying our full programme of performing arts and exhibitions of art and poetry. I’d like to personally thank everyone who donated to Reflections or purchased service user artwork on what proved to be a really enjoyable day.”

The event was one of a series of co-ordinated ‘Park Art’ events taking place across NHS mental health trusts this summer to raise money for Reflections.

The overall winners of a photography competition themed on ‘Inspiration’ were Steven Darbyshire and Cameron Latham, both from Wigan. Their photos will feature in the Warrington Contemporary Arts Festival.

Other category winners included Rob Collins (Warrington); Kelly Heaton (Halton, St Helens and Knowsley); Dave Molyneux (Digitally Enhanced) and Pauline Davidson (Staff).
