Allied Health Professionals (AHPs)

Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) are a group of healthcare professionals who work with patients to assess and treat a range of conditions, illnesses or injuries using diagnostic, technical and therapeutic interventions.

There are a number of professional groups which are listed as AHPs and in theTrust we employ seven of these groups which come under the professional leadership of Norah Flood:

All the staff within these groups are professionally regulated and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

To maintain registration each practitioner must abide by a code of conduct, and maintain a continuing professional development portfolio, which may be randomly audited on re-registration every 2 years.

The AHP workforce is supported by Therapy Assistants and Assistant Practitioners, some of whom work across a number of the disciplines mentioned above.

The organisation gains assurance from the AHP Professional Assurance Group which meets bi-monthly.
